Art Battle

KRYSS is proud to have organized the first art battle that attempted to interpret gender equality and women’s rights as our contribution to #WomensMarchMY, and in conjunction with International Women’s Day, 8 March 2020. It has always been amazing to see artists at work and to watch a piece transform before your very eyes can be exhilarating. It was interesting to see how artists too focused on the violations of human rights, that there was silencing, pain, and darkness in most of the pieces. For the women’s march, we strive to paint a different picture by calling out the violations, by calling out the failures of our Parliamentary representatives, and by calling out the lack of political will.

A huge shout out to the artists who were generous with their time and talents (in no particular order): Jerome Kugan Shika Khunz Corona Aeslinn Noel, Anjali Nijjar, Aveena Devi, Beloval Kseniia, Jean Lynn Chang, Haris Rashid, Manje, Sarah Joan Mokhtar, Shia Lynn Toh, Tai Jui Ben aka Ben BlackWall, Thineswari Govindasamy

Our heartfelt thanks to Thavarupani Subramaniam and Art Battle Malaysia for working with us to make this a success!

And our deepest gratitude to High Commission of Canada in Malaysia for their support.
