KRYSS Network began 18 years ago as a voluntary collective who is passionate about creating safer spaces for young people to discuss issues they faced. We got diverse peoples to understand each other across religion, ethnicity, gender and sexuality.
Our name was created in a coffee shop 18 years ago, and the logo was designed to reflect our values. The stylised Y is KRYSS was to represent gender diversity and the use of gender symbols was to reflect the importance of being inclusive and having a gender lens in all our work. The colour was explicitly selected to represent earth and as a metaphor for human rights as inherent to all human beings.
Today we launch our new logo proudly, as we at KRYSS Network continue to evolve, reflect, learn and innovate. We have grown so much since we institutionalised the organisation two years ago. The change in our logo is to reflect who we are today and where we are heading.
Symbolically, the new logo illustrates diversity and dynamism in our movement and within the KRYSS Network family. A movement will not grow and remain dynamic without different people, lived experiences, resources, knowledge and skills coming together. The 3 colours reflect our three strategies of voice, knowledge and collective action.
As a team, we are dedicated to creating a world where all peoples, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, age or any other status, are aware of and able to fully exercise their freedom of opinion and expression, public participation and bodily autonomy that are premised on gender equality, non-discrimination and feminist principles.
We are humbled and thankful to be where we are today. Much of our work will not be possible without the goodwill, support, and sometimes unseen labour of fellow feminists and allies. So thank you to all of you, and we hope to have you with us for the years to come.
Love and solidarity,
The KRYSS Network team
