The Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) is alarmed at the discovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) in Siti Kasim’s car, which was found on 21st July 2023 (yesterday) when she sent her car for service.
JAG is appalled by the serious threat to the life of a human rights defender. It is of grave concern that such an attempt was made to silence a critical voice who speaks out to protect and defend vulnerable communities.
JAG implores that the authorities seriously consider providing all necessary protection and support to ensure Siti Kasim’s safety and to take action against those responsible for this deplorable act. We also call upon Police DiRaja Malaysia to conduct an immediate investigation into the matter and to take the necessary action against the perpetrators responsible for this.
